  • Lucy Rooney, LCSW, PLLC, is an out-of-network provider and does not accept insurance directly. However, she can provide a superbill (detailed invoice) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan’s out-of-network benefits.

    It’s recommended that you contact your insurance provider in advance to confirm coverage for out-of-network psychotherapy.

  • Lucy requires at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.
    Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice — or missed sessions — will be billed at the full session rate. This policy ensures that reserved time can be made available to other clients in need.

  • Lucy is licensed to provide psychotherapy to clients who reside in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Florida, and California.
    If you are physically located in another state, Lucy can offer consultation or referral resources but cannot provide ongoing therapy unless licensed in your state of residence.

  • Standard sessions are 45–60 minutes.
    Session frequency (weekly or biweekly) is determined collaboratively based on your goals, availability, and treatment plan.

  • The initial session focuses on assessment and understanding your goals, history, and current concerns. Lucy will review relevant background information, clarify what you hope to gain from therapy, and outline next steps for treatment.

    • Anxiety and obsessive thinking

  • Yes. Lucy provides secure, HIPAA-compliant virtual sessions for clients residing in New York State. Telehealth can offer flexibility and accessibility while maintaining the same level of care as in-person sessions.
